Terms of service
The terms you agree to when you use Altworth.
Last updated 13 June 2026
1. Who we are and who you contract with
Altworth is operated by ALTWORTH LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17233314), with its registered office at 66 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NA, United Kingdom. In these terms, “Altworth”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean ALTWORTH LTD. When you buy, sell, store, or open a pack on Altworth, your contract is with ALTWORTH LTD and no one else.
Altworth Inc., a C-Corporation incorporated in the State of Delaware, USA, is our parent company. It is a passive holding company: it is not a party to your contract, holds none of your items, processes none of your payments, and is not responsible for the obligations we owe you. The two companies are separate legal persons, and nothing here creates any agency or partnership between them.
These terms apply to everyone who uses Altworth. We offer the service to people in the United Kingdom, and extend it to other countries only after we meet their requirements.
2. Who can use Altworth
You must be 18 or older and able to enter binding contracts where you live. We may ask you to verify your identity and age, and we may do so before we process a payout or release items to you.
Keep your sign-in details safe and let us know straight away if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for activity on your account, subject to your legal rights.
3. Buying on the marketplace
When you buy an item at a fixed price, you are entering a distance contract with us for goods we hold in custody. The all-in price, including any postage, handling, and tax, is shown before you confirm. We send you an electronic confirmation once your order is placed.
For fixed-price marketplace buys you have the right to cancel within 14 days of the goods coming into your possession, and to a refund within 14 days of cancelling. You can ask us for the model cancellation form, or tell us clearly in any other way. This does not apply once an exception below is genuinely engaged.
4. Opening packs
When you open a pack on Altworth, you are buying physical collectible cards. You are not entering a lottery and you are not placing a stake on an outcome. The cards in each pack are drawn from a published list, and the chance of each card is shown to you before you buy.
Two things define how this works. First, verifiable odds: before each drop we publish a sealed commitment (a sha256 hash) of the full contents and their order, and we reveal the full order at close so anyone can check that nothing changed. Second, a fair-market-value floor: every pack contains cards with a combined fair market value of at least the price you pay, set using our pricing method, applied consistently.
Opening a pack is a service you ask us to perform straight away. Before you open, you confirm that you want us to allocate your cards immediately and that you accept you lose the 14-day right to change your mind once the pack has been opened. Once a pack is opened and the cards are allocated to you, the purchase is final. This does not affect your rights if cards are faulty, not as described, or not delivered.
5. Selling and Sell Now
You can list items for sale and accept the best bid available from buyers on Altworth. Where we show a Sell Now option, it reflects the best open bid in the market at that time. We do not quote you a fixed buy-back price of our own.
Payouts are processed through Stripe and Stripe Connect. You may be asked to complete identity checks before a payout is released. Fees that apply to a sale are shown before you confirm.
6. Custody and ownership of your items
When we hold your cards for you, we hold them as custodian — in law, as a bailee — on your behalf. You remain the legal owner of your cards at all times. We never take ownership of them, and they do not form part of our assets if we ever run into financial difficulty.
Your cards are kept in a secure, insured facility. You can ask us to send them to you, subject to identity checks and a delivery charge shown at the time. We take reasonable care of your cards while we hold them. Where the law allows us to set a limit, our responsibility for cards lost or damaged in our care is to their fair market value at that time.
7. Authentication and grading
We check every item listed against the issuing grader’s registry, and we do not list a grade we cannot verify. Reasonable mistakes happen — if an item is found to be misgraded after sale, our buyer-protection policy refunds you in full.
8. Fees and prices
We charge a percentage fee on a successful sale. The exact rate depends on the category and is shown when you list. Prices are shown as a single total inclusive of any tax that applies. Stripe processes payments and payouts.
9. Your Altworth balance and payments
Card payments and payouts are processed by Stripe, which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. We are not a bank, are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority, and hold no electronic-money or payment-institution permission.
Your Altworth balance is store credit you can use to buy on Altworth or take out as a payout. It is not a bank account, not a deposit, not electronic money, and not an investment. It does not earn interest and it is not protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. We make no promise that your balance will grow or hold its value.
10. Your consumer rights, cancellations and refunds
Goods you buy from us must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose, and as described, and you have the short-term right to reject faulty goods within 30 days. Our services to you — storage, authentication, fulfilment — are carried out with reasonable care and skill. These rights cannot be contracted away, and we do not try to.
Your 14-day right to cancel a distance purchase applies to ordinary fixed-price marketplace buys. It does not apply once you have opened a pack you asked us to allocate immediately, or to a service you asked us to perform straight away and which has been fully performed. To cancel where the right applies, tell us clearly or use the model cancellation form, which we will provide on request.
11. Cards are collectibles, not investments
Cards are collectibles. Their value can go up or down. Nothing on Altworth is a promise of profit, income, or a guaranteed price, and you should not buy cards expecting to make money. We do not give investment advice.
12. Acceptable use
Use Altworth honestly. Do not use it for fraud, money laundering, sanctions evasion, stolen or counterfeit goods, market manipulation, or automated abuse. We may verify your identity, and we may suspend or freeze an account, hold a payout, or report activity where we reasonably need to in order to meet our legal duties or protect Altworth and the people who use it.
13. How ordering works
Before you confirm an order you can review it and correct any mistakes. Your order is recorded and available to you in your account. The contract is in English. We acknowledge your order electronically without undue delay.
14. Changes and availability
We may add, change, pause, or remove features, and we may update these terms — for example to reflect a change in our partners or in the law. When we make a material change we will give you notice, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. Nothing in any change removes the statutory rights you have as a consumer.
15. Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits or removes your statutory consumer rights, our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, our liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability the law does not allow us to limit.
Subject to that, where we are responsible for loss we are responsible for foreseeable loss only, and not for loss of profit, business, or opportunity. Any limit we set on our responsibility applies only to the extent the law allows.
16. Complaints and disputes
If something goes wrong, contact us first at support@altworth.com and we will work with you to put it right. If we cannot resolve a complaint between us, we will tell you in writing and let you know your options.
17. Governing law
Your contract with ALTWORTH LTD is governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales will deal with any dispute. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory consumer-law rights of the country where you live that you cannot contract out of. We do not impose United States law, court, or arbitration on you as a consumer.
